Disneyland The Happiest Place On Earth!

I just got home from a wonderful vacation to Disneyland with my daughter and her three children. We got there just in time to participate in all the special celebrations for their 60th Birthday. It was so wonderful for us because our family shares a couple of special dates with them. My husband was born on the same day as Walt Disney December 5th and in the same year that Disneyland opened 60 years ago.

As we stood in line for the ride Space Mountain my thoughts drifted back to the last time that I was there nearly twenty years earlier with my own boys. It was July, blistering hot and of course the line was very long, back then there was no such thing as fast pass. All of a sudden something very unexpected happened. There was a man standing in line just a few feet from us that reminded me very much of Mr. T from the A Team, complete with the layers of gold chains around his neck. He burst into song and encouraged the whole crowd to join him. What was so remarkable about it was the song he chose, I’m A Little Tea Pot, complete with all the actions. I am positive that no one but him could have pulled it off. It didn’t stop there he had everyone in that huge line singing children’s songs until we were finally on the ride.

The next day we were once again standing in line for Space Mountain (it is my favorite ride). The boys in line behind us were probably about 14 or 15 years old and looked to be somewhat rough around the edges. I was so surprised when I overheard them say “do you think we can do it without him.” I knew exactly what they meant, they must have been in the crowd the day before.  I never would have expected it from the Mr. T look alike or these two young boys, but it sure made for some good entertainment while waiting in line. Disneyland truly is a magical place!

I love these quotes from Walt Disney:

We did it Disneyland, in the knowledge that most of the people I talked to thought it would be a financial disaster – closed and forgotten within the first year. – Walt Disney

“Disneyland will never be complete “and as the future will show us, with enough imagination, it will continue to build and grow on one enduring promise – that all who journey into its magical gates will feel forever young. And the magic as Walt assured us will never end.

This has certainly been true for me and my family in all of our visits. I am so grateful for the good that you can still find in the world today! I hope that each of us will pursue our dreams just as Walt did and make our own magic!

Even after his death they continue to have the fireworks every night in Walt Disney’s honor. He said that they were like a kiss good night.

Keep Smiling
