Caramel Rice Krispies

 

Here is the recipe that I promised, it is actually not one of my own. I went to a barbecue this summer with a group of friends and this was one of the tasty treats we got to indulge in. The wonderful cook that brought it was kind enough to share the recipe and I thought it was so good I decided to make it the first recipe that I shared. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did!

Caramel Rice Krispies Treats

One square of butter

2 ½ – 10 oz. packages miniature marshmallows

12 cups Rice Krispies cereal

In a large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add the marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Add the Rice Krispies cereal and stir until well coated. Using a buttered spatula press onto bottom of a 12×17 jelly roll pan. Sprinkle miniature marshmallows over the top and set aside while you complete the next step.

1 pound Kraft traditional caramels

1 can sweetened condensed milk

Unwrap the caramels and place in a sauce pan. Melt over low heat until all the caramels are melted. Add the can of sweetened condensed milk and mix until well blended. Pour over the top of the Rice Krispies and marshmallows in the jelly roll pan. Then repeat the first layer of Rice Krispies and marshmallows mixture and press on top of the other layers in the pan. Cut into desired pieces and serve.
